Harvey Goodman saw a need for housing in Saint Clairsville and began purchasing farms, developing subdivisions and building homes. He opened the brokerage in 1957. His family also helped support the Saint Clairsville Food Pantry and Memorial Park.

John Goodman expanded the business through land development, construction and sales, including projects such as Silver Maple Estates, the Oakview Addition, the Valeview Subdivisions and Plaza West.

Today, Jay and Emily carry the family connection forward. Goodman Properties owns its residential and commercial portfolio, while the related companies maintain their own service responsibilities.
