On September 29, the traveling memorial arrived in the Ohio Valley with an escort procession from The Highlands to the Belmont County Fairgrounds, as residents and students gathered along the route to welcome it (The Intelligencer). The public exhibit runs October 1–4 in St. Clairsville, giving people throughout the region an opportunity to visit close to home (official event website).
A place to remember, close to home
The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and its visit includes a Mobile Education Center (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, local exhibit announcement). Bringing the memorial here creates space for reflection without requiring a trip to the nation’s capital.
For some visitors, that may mean looking for the name of someone they knew. For others, it may mean accompanying a veteran, listening to a family story, or helping a younger generation understand that the names on a memorial represent individual lives.
There is no single way to experience a place like this. A quiet visit, a conversation, or simply taking the time to be present can each be meaningful.

Visiting The Wall That Heals in Belmont County
The exhibit is free and located at the Belmont County Fairgrounds, 45420 Roscoe Road, St. Clairsville, Ohio; it is open day and night during the public display, with access ending at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 4 (official visitor information). The “Welcome Home” opening ceremony is scheduled for noon on Thursday, October 1, and the closing ceremony begins at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday (official event schedule).
